The Bogeyman Challenge

A Whiphook Original Side Game

Every round has winners, losers… and one poor soul everyone’s aiming to beat. That’s the Bogeyman. This Whiphook-made game keeps the competition spicy from the first tee to the last putt — just don’t let the curse stick to you.

How to Start

  • Play stroke play as usual.

  • The first time there’s a single last-place finisher on a hole, that player becomes The Bogeyman for the next hole.

  • If there’s a tie for last place, see Tie Rules below.

Scoring

  • Only non-Bogeymen earn points.

  • Points = how many places you finish above the Bogeyman that hole.

    • Beat them by 1 spot → 1 point

    • Beat them by 3 spots → 3 points

  • The Bogeyman scores 0 points while holding the title.

Losing the Title

  • The Bogeyman passes the title if:

    • They outright win the hole, or

    • They finish better than at least one other player (someone else takes last).

  • Whoever finishes last that hole becomes the new Bogeyman.

  • The outgoing Bogeyman still earns 0 points on the hole they escape.

Tie Rules

  • Tie for Last (no Bogeyman involved): No Bogeyman next hole, no points awarded.

  • Tie for Last (Bogeyman involved): Bogeyman keeps the title, no points awarded.

  • Tie where someone finishes worse than the Bogeyman: The worse-off player becomes the new Bogeyman.
